Biography :
Jit man Basnet is a highly experienced professional in the fields of law, journalism, community development and research. He has been an active member of the Triangle communities for several years and has been involved in many community activities including blood drives, support for local, organic farming, and international education. Because of his work in democracy and development, Mr. Basnet received a highly prestigious Reagan-Fascell Democracy Felloship in Washington, DC at the National Endowment for Democracy. In recognition of his work, he received a number of awards in human rights and social service. He has published a book titled "258 Dark Days" about his own experience in Nepal and continues to publish articles in national and international journals and papers. Jit man is honored to have lead rebuilding initiatives after Nepal's earthquake and has additionally been involved in initiatives rebuilding schools, running health clinics, and sending books to libraries in rural parts of Nepal.
